Stylish Thursday: Art Deco Style

Art Deco Style draws attention through a combination of expressive geometry, refined materials and an elegance that does not require an excess of decoration. Its character is defined by contrasts: light marble paired with deep green or black, the subtle sheen of brass, decorative glass and precisely repeated lines. In a bathroom, this aesthetic makes it possible to create a space that is both striking and well-organised, resembling an elegant bathing salon more than a typical utility room. Contemporary interpretations of Art Deco, however, do not simply copy interiors from a century ago. They draw on motifs characteristic of the era while combining them with modern ceramics, functional furnishings and solutions designed for everyday comfort.

What defines the character of an Art Deco bathroom?

  • Geometry and symmetry as the foundation of the composition: Art Deco favours a clear rhythm and a well-ordered space. Diamonds, fans, arches, zigzags and characteristic stepped forms can appear on tiles, furniture fronts, mirror frames or lighting fixtures. Symmetry is equally important: a centrally positioned mirror, a pair of decorative wall lights or harmoniously arranged fixtures make the interior look cohesive and carefully considered. This does not mean that many patterns need to be introduced. One stronger geometric accent can be enough to give the interior the right direction.
  • Marble, contrasting colours and refined materials: The character of Art Deco is best emphasised by surfaces with their own texture and depth. Marble can be used on walls, floors or a washbasin countertop, while dark wood, glass and metallic details add sophistication to the interior. Classic black and white are only one possibility. Bottle green, emerald, navy blue or deep burgundy can be equally striking. Combining a saturated colour with creamy marble and gold or brass creates the luxurious effect characteristic of Art Deco, without the need to overload the space with decorative elements.
  • Details that give the interior its individual character: In this style, it is often the details that determine the final effect. A mirror with a geometric frame, elegant fittings, decorative wall lights, metal handles or glass elements can serve a decorative purpose while remaining practical parts of the bathroom. Light reflecting off marble, glass and metallic surfaces is also important, as it highlights their texture and brings out the depth of the colours. As a result, even a relatively simple arrangement can acquire the atmosphere characteristic of elegant interiors inspired by the 1920s and 1930s.

How to choose our products? In an Art Deco bathroom, functional equipment should contribute to the overall arrangement rather than compete with its decorative elements. That is why it is worth choosing timeless solutions that work well alongside marble, deep colours and refined finishes. The electric dryer with a vertical profile in a shape of tube can subtly complement such a space thanks to its slim, minimalist form, which works well with the structured geometry of Art Deco. The heating element NEX helps maintain functionality without compromising on aesthetics; its modern character can harmoniously complement elegant surfaces and carefully considered interior details.
